Please ask these questions of any vendor before you sign a contract of send money to any vendor or company for any product or service...
1) Where are you located?
Be very weary of anyone that is hesitant about giving you a physical address. Be cautious of any vendor who hides from you on the web.
2) Are you the person supplying the product or service? Do you ever subcontract jobs after you sign a contract or accept my payment?
Some out of town vendors take your money and then treat your wedding like an E-Bay auction item. Insist the vendor sign a contract that includes details on who will be providing the service for which you contract.
3) Are you licensed & insured to do business in St. Augustine, FL?
Legitimate companies can and will gladly provide you with copies of Liability Insurance Certificates, License and / or Health Permits. If a vendor can't or won't provide this information, we suggest you continue looking.
4) Can I meet you and / or your employee who will be handling my wedding in person before I make a commitment?
If they cannot provide a name or local contact number and if they are not willing to sit down with you in person, we suggest you keep looking
5) Look out for the sales pitch! Sometimes it's the "bait & switch" where you responded to a teaser or low price and they immediately try to up sell you. The other one is "full court press"., if you book right now we'll give you $100 off or we only have one video guy or DJ left"
The harder the sales rep pushes you for an immediate answer, the faster you should run. We suggest looking for another vendor!
6) Demand recent references. Thereference should be more than a flowery comment and should contain contact information. Ask other vendors if they have worked with or heard of anyone before you hire.
